Can I connect MP3 Player to HiFi amp?

Can I play music from an MP3 player thru my separates HiFi system? Is so, what do I need to do to connect an MP3 player to a Kenwood AMP?

The HiFi is about 10 years old but has a quality Kenwood AMP and speakers.

Haven't bought the MP3 player yet so any suggestions on an easy to use (and cheapinsh) MP3 player that'll play both MP3 and WMA songs much appreciated.

Promised Mrs A that I'd put a 4 hours of her favourite music together for a party next week so thanks in advance for any prompt replies.
