Question

Can I connect a video/flash light to my Sony Handycam PJ380E

May 27, 2014 9:58PM PDT

My Sony Handycam HDR-PJ380E does not have built-in video/flash light or an accessory shoe to connect one. In spite of the proclaimed low light capabilities of this handycam I am not satisfied with it low light performance especially with still shots (lots of grains) and to some extent with video recording also. Is there a way to connect a video and flash light to this handycam?

Answer
LED Lights

I suggest you buy a L bracket (see Amazon) This will screw into the tripod mount on the camera and give you an accessory shoe.
Then look at the large range of LED lighting. Mine has 126 LEDs and is adequate for about 6' in total darkness. The camcorder does not normally have a connector for a flash but the LED light will replace a flashgun.
You can add as many LED lights as you wish provided that you have supports for them.
