Since before Windows NT 4.0, PARALLEL INSTALLS and more than one OS has been supported. The issue here is if your machine will boot from the FW drive.
Since Gateway would not document such since it can depend on so much, you'll get to try this out.
Best of luck,
Bob
I just installed a 2nd external HD (120G) via firewire to my laptop. Can I boot my WinXp Pro from this hard drive if,
1. I intstall WinXp Pro on this HD.
2. Change my BIOS so that my external HD starts first before my internal HD.
This is in case I can't access my internal HD since it's been acting up lately. Will windows get confused if I have 2 WinXp Pro OS? (one on the internal HD & the other on the external HD). Cause right now windows is already reading the external HD using the current OS.
I appreciate any help. Thanks.
My Specs: Gateway 600XL Laptop, WinXp Pro SP1, Pentium 4, 2.2 GHz-M, 512MB Ram, 60G Ultra ATA Hard Drive (43G Free Space).
