Question

Can I add a smartphone to an existing plan without more cost

Nov 26, 2015 1:50PM PST

So my family has 4 devices, only 1 is a smartphone the other 3 are basic feature phones. Our carrier is Verizon and we have unlimited talk and text and 500 MB of data, all shared, except the basic feature phones don't have data. If I got a smartphone to add to the plan would it add any cost even if no data was added to the plan?

.....each phone has a monthly cost whether or not you want to use data on any major carrier.

You can use a phone strictly on wifi at no monthly charge, but it won't have a phone # or will connect to any cellular network for voice or data.

With Verizon, the monthly cost is currently $40 per smart phone, cost of the data plan on the main line of service, fees/taxes, There is no other work-around.

What about the basic feature phone?

How much less would it cost if I removed the basic feature phone I am currently using?
