Resolved Question

Can HP M537 camera still be used with Windows 7?

Jun 23, 2014 3:41PM PDT

When the HP Photosmart M537 camera was produced the most current Windows OS was XP. My old desktop which was still using XP went down a couple weeks ago and is still not repaired. When I wanted to take some pictures with the M537 I tried downloading the HP Photosmart camera software to my Windows 7 laptop and it was rejected. I tried calling HP but was told they no longer provide camera support by phone and refered me to their website for any possible help...and it has none for this problem. Apparently HP only provides software and drivers for Windows OS versions up to XP, but does not provide support for the more current Windows 7 & 8.

Does anyone know if there's a source (free hopefully) for software and drivers that will allow the M537 to work with Windows 7 also?

Why didn't I think of that?

Thanks ever so much for the workaround. I had never used a card reader before and therefore the idea hadn't jumped to mind. This doesn't solve the software loss problem, but it does provide a way to download pics...great!

Years ago I stopped using software for this.

Well, to be specific, software from the camera makers. I use a simple filing system with a folder for the year that the picture was taken and then folders in there for season or event. For me this has helped me keep my collection safe as I can backup that folder to those every growing in size USB sticks for safe keeping.

Once again, thanks so much. I appreciate the structure of your personal file format...makes sense to me. There are also excellent third party photo software programs I am currently considering, so essentially you've solved my problems
