I saw that too. When the list came up, even routers with WEP security did not have a lock symbol. Some may call that a bug.

About the security locks, none of them actually had them when using the Windows7. Insead of lock or unlock icons, some had little yellow icons which indicated Norton Security.
If it is some type of bug, do you know a fix ?
I use Norton Security and Malwarebytes

I've never found Microsoft to correct cosmetic issues once they start work on their next OS.

I just found something called toshiba wireless LAN indicator in my programs. I clicked "display non-registered access points" and now can login anywhere in the neighborhood.
I thought I'd post this incase someone had a similar problem. Like I said it's a new laptop and I'm still figuring a few things out.

Acer, Tosh, Lenovo all have variations on this to make it easier on us.

In the end they just make us look around for where they hid the cheese.
