and after many different solutions, I ran Trend Micro on-line virus scan.
Found I had 4 viruses.
Don't know if anyone can help but...
I suddenly cannot access the internet, even though my wireless connection is strong both at home and to the wireless network on campus, or when I am connected to the school network via ethernet (and clearly am connected).
I am mystified. One day in the morning I was able to connect, and then when I came home in the evening, I couldn't (not with any browser or any messenger). I have a feeling it may have something to do with a Windows Update being installed. I tried turning off the internet firewall, however, and it still doesn't work. I ran through all these suggestions from a help wizard (checked for multiple copies of winsock, pinged default gateway -- when I did it myself, it seemed to work, but when I used the "investigate" tool in the wizard, it said it failed), I deleted all temporary internet files and cookies, I looked in device manager to make sure that both my lan card and my wireless network card were both working, I checked to see that I actually had a connection to the network, etc. etc.
I called my computer manufacturer, who wasn't very helpful, and Windows tells me to contact the computer manufacturer. Any ideas?
