Can Bose Earbud wire's be spliced?

No, the dog didn't eat my homework but she did, however, chew through my Bose earbud wires. I tried splicing them, copper to copper, red to red and blue to blue, but no luck.

Any suggestions or tips? Detail explanation (pictures would be great) would be most appreciated.
