Can anyone help with my problem on windows XP

Cant download games from windows catalog (start menue windows XP) the downloads start but only go about halfway, It says they are complete but arent. When I try to run the download error message says files are corrupt. I just did a reinstall of windows thinking it would help but it didnt. What can I do next Please help.
