Just about any monitor that is larger than 14" would be an improvement on what you have.

What do you use your computer for? Video editing, Picture editing or just run of the mill use?

Your choice of monitor is also governed by the capabilities of your graphics card. You have not said what type of computer you have, we assume it's a Mac as this is a Mac forum, but a little more information there would be helpful.

Does your computer have a VGA output, a DVI output, an ADC output or even all three? With DVI or ADC you could go for a Digital flat panel monitor, with VGA only - you can't.

ViewSonic & Planar both make reasonably economic flat panel monitors but they may not be available in your neck of the woods.
