Camera Prices

by jbeers / January 21, 2006 10:44 AM PST

I notice that many manufacturers come out with new models at the PMAs in February. Do prices typically drop on the other "outdated" cameras in a make's lineup when a new model is introduced?

Prices Typically Drop? No!

You would think they would, but that has not been the case.

Occasionally, a camera maker will offer rebates a few months before a camera is replaced, apparently to deplete their stock.

Any sale price will come from individual stores, not the camera maker.
I would certainly ask for a discount on an outdated camera.

may be introduced at an attractive price. Something that's 50% better than last year's model for about the same price.
