Question

Camera not recognized by computer

Feb 28, 2016 11:19AM PST

My camera, a Canon EOS 70D, is not recognized by my desktop when I plug it in. This is a new problem. Everything works fine with my laptop, so the issue must be related to the computer. Device information in Windows 10 says that there's a problem with the driver. Trouble is, this camera does not need drivers in Windows 10. Just in case, I updated the EOS Utility. This did not help, since Windows 10 still says there is a problem with the driver. Can anyone suggest a course of action that could solve this issue.

Ask Canon if

Ask Canon if there is some firmware needed for the camera to get this to work. Remember I take it for granted your PC is in working order and not a homebrew with drivers missing.

In the meantime I find putting the memory cards in readers are far more robust.

Thanks. I'll ask Canon. I tried putting the memory card in the computer, but that didn't help.

That leads me to think this PC has missing drivers.

So far, this points to PC issues, not camera issues.

try removing the eos utility. disconnect all other usb devices, then reinstall the eos utility.
