Camera for taking pictures in Rainforest

I currently have a kodak camera and the pics I take at night or in darker conditions turn out very dark. I found this out when I went to Mexico. I am planning a trip to Costa Rica and plan on spending quite a bit of time in the rain forest and want my pictures to come out. Any suggestions for a decent camera under $500 that my pics will come out in darker/shady areas? Thanks

Low Light Camera

Fujifilm has two cameras that perform better in low light than others:

The Fujifilm F10 if you want a small camera.
The Fujifilm S5200 if you want a 10X zoom camera.

They have announced a Fujifilm F30, which will not be available until May.
