Camera For "Serious" High School Budget Film

I am going to be making a film, I am in high school and would like to probably enter this into a teen film contest. I need to know which camera I should use, we are all very serious about this movie

The camera does not make the shot. Surely you have some camcorders somewhere you can use today, now to get going?

Canon HV30

You want the Canon HV30.

Why?

1. It uses HDV format high def. This is easier for your computer to process.
2. The picture quality for $600 is amazing. You won't be able to beat it.
3. It shoots in 24p mode, which is similar to film. It will give you the film-like look.
4. It has a fair number of manual controls.
5. The video is crisp and in 24p mode the low light levels are fairly decent.
