Camera for a child

Dec 12, 2009 3:18AM PST

I want to buy a birthday present for a young boy. He loves taking photos with his parents' camera and apparently is well beyond using a children's camera. I've done some research and have found that many people with modest photographic needs love the Fujifilm FinePix J28. Does any of you know that camera? If not, could you steer me to something that would equally fill the bill? The camera usually sells for about $140, but it has been reduced to $100 in some places, and at one time sold for about $80 on a special from Amazon. I'd really like not to spend more than I'd have to spend for the J28 but still get a camera of the same quality.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Jenny

I've seen them, too, but it's good to have confirmation that there's no bad news that you know of.

Best,
