Camcorder Recommendations

Jan 31, 2006 9:25AM PST

Hi everyone! I'm hoping that you experienced videographers might be able to help me out. I currently have a website that I'm planning on adding video clips to. It's a whale watching website (www.whalesightings.com) and I'm looking to upgrade my current video recorder (Panasonic PV-DV100D)for this upcoming whale watching season.

In upgrading, I'm looking for a camera that will have a decent zoom, good color and sound quality, easy to use, must be able to transfer video to my PC, and is within my price range. I'm hoping to stay around $500, but I'm willing to go slightly higher if the quality is there.

I'm currently researching the Canon ZR600 and Panasonic PV-GS39, but I have a feeling that there may be a better choice that I'm just not aware of. Do you have any recommendations on which one of these models would be best or if there's one even better, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks!
