Camcorder purchase

Jun 4, 2006 11:04AM PDT

Its been awhile since I purchased a camcorder, last one was a Sony Hi-8. Want one functional in low light and dependable. Have read many camcorder review sites and settled on Mini-DV format. Can anyone help me decide between Sony DCR-HC96 / Panasonic GS-300 and a JVC-GR-X5? I have read that the Sony menu is cumbersome and if there is a problem the help is not there from the company. Thanks in advance for any ideas or insight. Was hoping to spend about $5-600 From what I've read about most Canon's they are poor low light performers in my price range, that is why left them out.
