Camcorder mini-DVD to PC - How to I Read?

Nov 14, 2005 9:49PM PST

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, but Some friends of mine shot some video this weekend. I took the mini-dvd out of their camera (Hitachi - not sure of the model), put it into my laptop (WinXP IBM Thinkpad) and copied the files into a folder so I could have a copy of what they shot. The files appear to be:

VR_MANGR.BUP
VR_MANGR.IFO
VR_MOVIE.VRO (the largest file)

In another folder there is an RX.DAT file, but does not appear to be related to what was shot.

How do I view and edit these? I would like to get these in a format to view with Windows Media Player or similar and be able to make my own DVD's with them.

PLEASE help!!!

Try the demo of Ulead Movie Factory from Ulead.com It can source such media for your project.

Many people are buy the DVD cameras then find out that editting the DVD video is very difficult if not almost impossible.
Now if they would just come here and do some reading and ask a few questions BEFORE they buy. John

We had this discussion, but a self proclaimed 'expert'

insisted that this was the route for the unsophisticated user to go. Now, if that character is still around, he should start answering these questions. Ooops! I guess it isn't quite so easy.
