I need help. I am getting confused after reading and reading all the reviews and customer reviews. I am comparing among the following three cameras: Canon Vixia HV30, Sony Handycam SR11, and the Canon Vixia HF10. As I read the reviews, I am thinking that the Canon HF10 is not a good deal at all....people are having problems with the software and such.
Here is where we are at. We do not have a blu-ray dvd player, but do have an HD television. We have a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop, Processor Intel Core (TM)2 Duo CPU T5250@1.5Ghz, 2GB Ram, 32bit operating system, and Windows Vista. I want to get a camera that is up to date that we can edit the footage and place on DVD for playback. This would be mainly for capturing our kids growing up and such.
Here is the deal with the Canon it uses the MiniDV's which are basically being phased out but I read actually captures the data at a higher rate making the video much better. I understand you use the Firewire cable or the USB cable to get it to your computer, but what software do you actually use to edit. (I have Nero and Photoshop elements). Do I have to buy something special again?
The Sony uses the memory sticks and I have read the data is so compressed that the video is not as good?? Then when this is transferred to my computer, is my computer fast enough to handle the editing without crashing my system. Essentially is it too advanced for what we have?? We don't plan on buying another laptop anytime soon.
Thanks in advance for the help.
