Camcorder dilemma: PV-GS250 or Everio GZ-MG50?

Dec 15, 2005 11:27AM PST

I've used the Panasonic PV-GS250 and I loved the color and ease. Had been planning on getting one when prices dropped a bit more. But now... the hard drive JVC comes along and now I am doubting myself.

I use a G5, OSX 10.4.2, and iMovie (for now). I've had a blast using the Panasonic, but have to admit transferring to dvd is ridiculously long. I am tempted by the Everio.

Anyone have some good advice? Thanks.

High quality video vs convience.
MiniDV has higher picture quality, higher video bandwidth. 25mhz for DV, 7mhz for DVD MPG2
The HD has convience of faster capture, just copy the files from the camera to the Mac HD. I know what you mean, real time capture can be tedious.
A lot depends on what you want to do with the finial product.
If you were recording DV to the 20 gb HD in the camera it would only record for 1.6hrs instead of the 4.5 hrs using MPG2. John

I read the C/net reviews for both cameras, but I'm the type that needs a direct comparison. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience using both. Your point is well taken. thanks again.
