Question

camcorder choice

Apr 7, 2013 5:02AM PDT

I need to buy a camcorder.
Budget: Rs. 20000/=
Purpose: mostly outdoor. I go for lot of dog shows where a very high zoom is needed. Usually it gets over by daytime but I need to capture prize distribution ceremony in the evening.
After surfing internet I have found Panasonic HD-V10 and Sony C-19.
I already posses Panasonic FZ 100 still camera which is superb as far as stills are concerned, but I am not comfortable with the video part.
Can anyone help me to choose a model to suit my purpose?

Answer
V10

I have the V700 (recently replaced with the V720) it is a brilliant camera. The V10 has a better optical zoom range but, due to the limited number of pixels (1.5 Mp compared to 15.5 Mp for the 700) I would be concerned about the quality of the digital zoom. If you could go up the Panasonic range to the 700 you would get much better performance.

The stills performance is excellent. Now I carry one camera for both video and photos.

v10 vs v 700

the price difference is more than two and half times. I basically need more zooming power. One user review of v10 at an online shopping portal says that it can do very good low light shooting due to its some auto scene setting. Is it true? In that case I can compromise between full HD and HD recording. For my still photo I am very happy with my Panasonic FZ 100. In fact it gives me almost same result as my Nikon FM 10( Film camera).
