Hello All, I am trying to buy a new camcorder. I record videos everyday for about 2 hours. My older Sony handcam did not last more than 1 yr. Do you think a proffessional camcorder will help? My budget will be around $1500-$2000. Please advise.

No. Here's why.

Even a pro camera will need service or repair given that much use. There are folk new to this that may think these things work for years without repair. Eventually they learn.

My advice is to get another camcorder like you had since it worked for you.

Thanks for helping Bob. Are you saying any camcorder works only upto 1 yr(without needing any repairs?) given my usage?

I said that many do. At some point even a pro camera would need service. And since a pro camera service is pretty pricey, what you had may be the cheaper solution.
