Calling their bluff over Free Upgrade to 10

Jul 23, 2016 9:27AM PDT

Nothing makes me more likely to not do something than being forced into it, & the more Microsoft threaten me with that countdown for Windows 10 the less likely I am to upgrade.
Anyone else feel the same?

It's partly down to liking what I have and no new games I want for a while, & partly playing some pretty old (enhanced) games

And our office and more
Jul 23, 2016 9:32AM PDT

Have moved every last machine we can to W10.

It's rather funny that no one wanted one of our old netbooks but then we took the W10 upgrade and along the way moved it to 64 bit as well. Result? The new owner was happy to get a W10 netbook. They didn't even consider it before.

People are weird like that.

Anyhow, the office is all in on 10. It's been a ride and a good one.

W10

The machine I have does everything I need it to do and does not give me any fuss.
In 3 yrs when support for w7 stops this machine will be 11 yrs old.
That will give me the push to buy or build a new one.

As for the count down I don't see such a thing but that's just a matter of how you handle updates from msft.

Windows 10

I tried Windows 10 on my Toshiba Laptop with Windows 7. I liked Windows 10 better, but I had trouble with my mouse touch pad not working right and my sound not going loud enough. I could not find any driver updates to fix it..

Feel alone
Jul 24, 2016 8:41AM PDT

I like my windows 7 and purchased the end of 2013 and don't want to upgrade. I did upgrade my laptop to 10 and 10 was OK but I reverted back to 7. Didn't want to try on my desktop. I just think 7 works better for me and 10 always had more steps. It's just microsoft makes me feel foolish not to upgrade because it is free. If it wasn't free I wouldn't do it so why do it because it is free. Some love it and some don't see the need. Just my side besides I like the games on 7 spades etc. Also I don't know about drivers etc as I come here for help. That's why I am so careful. Sandra

No Bluff to Call

Upgrade to Windows 10 or keep Windows 7/8.1, it's your decision.. I've not felt pressured to upgrade at all.

I've got two machines which fully support Win10 and I've upgraded, for free, both of them.. I'm happy with Win10 and am glad to have made the upgrade for no cost.

On the other hand, I've also got two older systems which aren't supported, (a laptop and a desktop), both by HP and Windows 7. No graphics drivers, etc. are supplied by the manufacturer or the device manufacturer. In those two cases, I've skipped the process and left them as they are. Although they might have made the upgrade if I tinkered a little, they aren't "test" machines so I chose not to make the jump. I'm happy they're both working and in 2020, the laptop will be about 10 years old, if it makes it that long, and the desktop will be eight years old. Time for new machines.

Hope this helps.
