Question

Calling all people with Mice knowledge

Sep 11, 2017 1:41PM PDT

I have a Zelotes T-90.
I need to find a way to increase the LOD(Lift off distance, where how high you can lift it up if if still registers)
It has about 2mm LOD, and I need 2 cm.
Does anyone know a trick to increase it?

Answer
I'm going with nope.

http://computer.howstuffworks.com/question631.htm notes how it works. The little camera in the usual optical mice are focused to the distance and there are no models that have an adjustment to change the focal point.

I'm just an electronics designer and think you have a need for a full custom solution.

Have to go with nope again. (except for lasers)

To reach the low price points the entire thing is a module and no way I've seen to change the lens and the focal point. I did some quick checking to see if the illuminating LED could be the reason but I can back to focal point in seconds.

That said, there are PRIORS about this found with https://www.google.com/search?q=mouse+with+high+lift+off+distance

This leads us to think about LASER MICE. http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/all-you-need-to-know-about-gaming-mouse.229459/ notes (or claims) up to 10 mm.

But can you find one?

T90
Sep 11, 2017 2:28PM PDT

I thought the T90 was a laser mouse...
I am unable to get another mouse, which is why I was wondering about a trick like putting a toilet paper roll. IN my school project, I am using magnets to make it float and hover. I can get the floating, but at 0.5 cm the mouse stops tracking, which is the height of the magnets...

Nope. Optical LED.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0TP-005W-00013 spells it out.

Needs lasers from what folk have written. I'm just an electronics designer and remember when optical mice came about with HP publishing papers on their chips. Yes I read those papers and know how it works and thus why I had to write nope then followed up with what you might need.
