Hey! there you go again!

using logic in an unacceptable (hard to argue with!) manner!

In high school one of my friends used to refer to teachers as "The Fun Police" - he was often penalized for " having fun in an unacceptable manner " - he was the 'class clown' and was very fond of puns. Got lots of groans from the class, and glares and worse from the teachers... Must have been on a first-name-basis with the Principal.

The sad thing is logic is no longer acceptable. Lack of civility and clear thought is a hot topic on the 'net.
Two stories lately involved topics that are hardly passion-raising, yet the originators say they're getting death threats- credible, reportable ones. Just for having an opinion. And, almost always an informed, professional opinion by the nature of blogging.

As to the #RealTariffMess (or however you write that),
Jun 21, 2019 1:09AM PDT

the farm and manufacturing experiences have never been funny and are falling into tragic. Trump isn't responsible for the weather, but Murphy is, and it has become part of foreign affairs.

'Never fight wars on more than one front.'
1. Iraq
2. Yemen
3. Homeland security
4. Tariffs
5. N. Korea
6. S. China Sea
7. Iran
'But we're not actually fighting all those.'

You're spending the money. Far more guns, far less butter.

When the 'wars'
Jun 21, 2019 8:02AM PDT

keep moving from one place to another, it's kind of hard not to fight more than one at a time.

You didn't list parts of Africa, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Mexico, Canada, Lebanon, or Turkey in your list....why?

And you DID list Homeland Security in it....why?

Not the first time I've called it a war.
Jun 21, 2019 11:08AM PDT

Its origins are in reaction to an attack by a foreign military force.
Large sums of cash, not to mention the costs of inconvenience, spent on a defensive war by airport checks and intelligence operations. The proximate cause was the 9/11 attacks, brought about by bad relations between countries. Bad government.

I listed the ones in which America is spending serious money and/or risking (its own) lives.

You're spending the money. On far more guns and far less butter.

You are trying to brag over
Jun 21, 2019 12:48PM PDT

topics that don't sync up......your list only has ONE on it that has to do with TARIFF 'wars'...the rest are actual fighting types. What topic would you like you actually discuss here? YOU started this thread about tariffs and then YOU went into an entirely different direction....why?

And you DIDN'T list the ones where America is spending 'serious' money. How so with Yemen, NOKO, China Seas, or even Iran (other than the loss of a $1.5B drone (2 of them actually) that WE didn't shoot down but will have to replace?

Your thoughts are again all over the place to a serious worry...….and oleo is cheaper, btw.

BILLION?

I suggest you check your figures.

Good grief...

$110M.....sorry for the typo. I don't mind being corrected, but is it necessary to ALWAYS be sarcastic about it or do you do it for the 'thumbs up' you aimed for from your butt buddy?

I DID notice though that you didn't dispute anything of importance that I said.....as usual, because you are too busy being a typical liberal who picks out ONE word to go after. Which is what I pointed out you would do from another post I made the other day. You're so predictable...…...

My topic was much less
Jun 21, 2019 6:36PM PDT

about tariffs than about government foolishness, as Richard noticed. Sarcasm. The businesses to which Trump especially owes some fulfilled campaign promises are in strong disagreement with him as to almost every aspect of his plan- if that's what it is.

B.G. as a topic covers a lot of ground. (Like "Trump" and "BO" do for others.) A large part of it is the polarization of society, which many notice with concern, on which I commented in reply to another person. Just when mankind's problems are growing in number and intensity it's losing whatever ability it had to cooperate in solving them. Mankind. That includes tax-payers, who hope and pray for solutions to their myriad problems, and tax-receivers, who are paid to find and implement solutions.

I made my list thoughtfully.
The existence of the Yemen situation should shame anyone who claims to be a highly evolved human. Disgusting. Women and kids! Once, wars were fought by grown men, facing each other. Now, mass rape and destroying relief supplies are militarized. The US? Allied with the Saudi government in fighting the Houthis, who are at least homies. Not that their own brutality is excusable. The heavy weapons- and their collateral damage- are almost all in the hands of the 'good guys'. At least this one may turn a profit, if Trump gets to sell more hardware to his friends in Riyadh.

N. Korea and Iran. How much is being spent, lots of it from classified funds, in surveillance and intelligence of those two countries? Both are possible flash points for shooting wars. (At least two of the three countries have leadership that seems not to be playing with a full deck.)

Not "China Seas", but The South China Sea, mapped. Lots going on there. Perhaps it escaped your attention. How much does it cost y'all to deploy task groups to there and the Straight of Hormuz? You and your son can be thankful Xi is sensible, patient, and doesn't face an election campaign. (He's also a thug, for the record.)

Any war is expensive, armed or not. In fact there have been suicides linked to depression in the corn belt, if you need bodies. (I don't.)

Bad government and the solutions proposed all come from the class that caused the problems, directly or by unintended consequences. The folks in our mirrors.
New Yorker drawing: God and an angel are on a cloud, observing the earth from a distance.
God: 'Oh, wait, it will be all right. They're having an election.'
Cartoonist's sarcasm.

Oleo is not the question. Please Google "guns and butter" or "guns or butter" and you'll get my point.H

South China Sea
Jun 22, 2019 1:31AM PDT

It never escaped my attention.....you should know that since you know already how much I detest BO and it was on HIS watch that those manmade islands were created and were turned into military installations.....and not a word from him or that 'wonderful' UN about it and China's obvious desire for control over the whole international waters area there. And I would have supported immediately bombing the place to smithereens over and over as they tried to rebuild.
