General discussion

Call me crazy, but

I was in Costco today and saw a Vizio 42" HD TV. I think it was this one:

http://vinc.com/site/products/product_p42hdtv.html#specification

It was right between a Pioneer 42" and a Phillips 42". It totally blew the Phillips away in sharpness and looked just as good as the Pioneer. Colors were actually better than either, but we all know they can be adjusted. The NCAA basketball was on and the boards were clearly defined on the Vizio and Pioneer, but had soft edges on the Phillips.

The best part was that they had a 300 dollar off coupon that knocked the price to 1500 bucks. Had the urge to buy one, and if I did not already own a plasma, might have convinced the wife that we needed it.

I am in the market for another big screen TV for downstairs. Need at least a 60" screen. Will not buy a DLP or LCD RP TV. With good looking plasma prices falling like this, maybe I will not have to look for Stewart's old Sony. Soon the 60+ inch plasmas will be affordable.

Have been disappointed if you had not said that.

If I can get a 60" Vizio for 3000 bucks, I will buy it.

prices and quality has come down and risen respectively in the entry to mid range level plasma in the last year. for those whos needs dont require perfection and arent paranoid of the "off-brands", deals can be had. eight months ago i took a chance on the 50" vizio ($2600 minus $300 coupon) and it has turn out to be consider a "best buy" by many reviews, including cnet. the specs on the 42" looks even better, but the 50" is currently going for $2300. in either case, you cant go wrong buying it from costco.

VISO EYEPOPPING

especially when you look back 10 years a nasty anolog 25" in a huge cabinit would cost you more than the Viso. In closing the only posts that make my hair stand on end are the ones that say hi-def t.v. cost to much and there is no programming. HEAD IN THE SAND have a nice day stewart
