I was thinking of buying one of the new tv's with the integrated cable card slot. Do all cable providers have to provide the cable cards needed by this time. I thought I read somewhere it is by law now. Thanx all!

I just purchased the Sony WEGA 50" with CableCard and asked my cable company ( Cablevision ). They provide card for $1.25 a month ( thats a few bucks less than the box ) but it does not allow interactive use such as "On Demand" and some other features. I never use those anyway so I think I will go for the card because it will immediately save me from buying $50 worth of cables which everyone says I need to get best HD pictures from box to TV. Will check back in to let you know how it all works, the set arrives Friday.

We bought our set in June, we've had nothing but trouble with the cablecard. Cox is coming out today swap in again, this makes about 12 cards now. LG is coming next week to install some new firmware.

especially the one with the built in dvr? we've had about 3 returns on them because it wasnt compatible with comcast cablecard nor was it compatible with comcast cable due to the copy right encryption on a lot of stuff out there.
