Cable TV working cable internet dead!

Oct 24, 2007 3:01AM PDT

Hi, I really need some help as I am at the end of my tether!

I get my internet via cable, and my TV is working fine, picking up all the channels, but my Motorola Surfboard SB5100 doesn't seem to be transmitting a signal. The send/recv lights are both flashing consistently. I have rebooted a number of times but that doesn't work. And when I type in ipconfig into the cmd box I see the following:

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.100.11
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

Is there anything I can do to fix the problem myself, or is it something I have to get the cable company onto? It just seems weird that the TV is working fine and not the internet.

Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it.

shows to be a router. Do you have a router?

If the lights are not right, it's not the computer. Call the cable company.

You don't have the cable modem

on stand by, do you? My nephew did that to me when I went to set up my sisters wireless setup.

you should be looking at

wall > cable modem/router > your wireless router > wired/wireless

update the firmware in your wireless router, most have outdated firmware.

Broadcast SSID

use WPA security.

Use nothing else. You shold get connected with no problems.
