I had a cable release on my old Canon AE-1 SLR film camera.
(Simple, inexpensive and functional)
But I have not seen any digital camera that can accommodate a cable release.
At one time, a few digital camera came with a remote control.
And a few have one available as an option.
But the camera price was/is over $300.
If you plan to use a digital camera on a tripod and want to make sure that you don't jostle the camera while pressing the shutter button, you can use the 3 second delay feature.

My biggest complaint about digicams is shutter lag. I got a new one with OK lag, but my dad wants a cable release or remote. I couldn't find a comparison site with "remote" or "cable release" as an option to search by. Is there a recommendation for a 3+ mp with low shutter lag and either a cable release or remote, but still under $300? BTW, do they make a digital cable release, e.g. by way of the USB port?
