When you replace a cable modem, you get to call the cableco and they will register your new modem so it will work on their network.
I don't see if you did this.
Also, a cable modem connected to a HUB is an invalid configuration. You won't find support for such.

Hi all. I've just replaced a blown CNET 100/10Mbps Fast Ethernet Adapter card on my Win98 system and have not been able to reestablish a connection with AOL. I followed all the directions to a tee from CNET and cannot get the AOL software to get beyond step 3 of the connection process. As soon as step 4 shows up on the sign-on screen - "talking to network", I get a "could not establish a connection" notice. All the AOL settings(cable-modem, etc.) are matched to my working system that is sharing the hub,I've reset the cable modem, the Linksys hub is giving me all the right green lights that acknowledge the computer's presence, which seems to tell me that the hardware is working OK (??). I've uninstalled AOL and reinstalled it, and I've also installed and uninstalled the CNET drivers several times, even though that's not likely where the problem is(??). Can anyone make sense of this weirdness?? Thanks for listening
