Don't mix your data and phone network wiring. While it is supposed to work I'm finding very few people will take the time to get the pairs right.

All,
I use Time Warner cable internet and will occasionally experience a loss of connectivity when the phone rings. e.g., if I have a VPN connection, it will disconnect, or if I'm playing an online game, the connect to the server will be lost.
I've read about how this can happen with DSL connections if you don't have all the filters in place. The connections that drop are all wired connections. I have my DLINK DI-624 connected to my cable modem. Since my router only has four ports, I also use switches where there is more than one network device in a room. In my office I have a Linksys 10/100 5-port Workgroup Switch, Model: EZXS55W.
My home uses structure wiring, so the RJ-46 jacks through the house can be used for data or phone. My only theory is that somewhere in the structured wiring panel, a line is crossed so when an incoming calls comes it, there is interference on the data lines as well.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks!
