Question

Cable for Panasonic V750

Apr 20, 2015 8:50AM PDT

The manual for this camcorder mentions a cable that can be used to connect camera to external HDD to copy files, "commercially available". Does anyone know where I can get one? Has anyone tried this successfully?

Plug and Copy to External HDD
Recorded data can be easily copied to an HDD without having to use a PC.
• In the following cases, a USB HDD cannot be used by connecting it to this unit
- A USB HDD with a capacity of below 160 GB or above 2 TB
- When a USB HDD has two or more partitions
- If a USB HDD is in a format other than FAT32
- When connected by using a USB hub
- When a USB HDD is not a desktop type

That is, the externally powered USB HDD looks to plug into the camera via a standard USB cable.

USB cable

Unfortunately the socket on the camera is a micro USB and the socket on the HDD is a mini USB3, which is pretty standard these days, and which is found on the Western Digital My Passport 1Tb (see list from Panasonic website) which I own. I can't find a cable with the right connectors.

There are micro USB to other adapters out there.

Remember we don't expect the camcorder to power the HDD so be sure you use a HDD with external power.

As to where I find cables, that would be Amazon, Newegg.

Power for HDD
Apr 22, 2015 4:04AM PDT

The manual claims that an HDD without its own power can be powered via the camcorder if the latter is plugged in to a mains supply.

Then go get the cable (newegg/amazon) and enjoy.
