Cable Company-Not HDTV linked

Aug 8, 2005 1:57PM PDT

I live in a Condo Building and share Direct TV satelite with all tenats (ie 100). We use a middle man to provide service and equipment. The association has not approved HDTV to our current contract. What can I do to ? If I bot a HDTV what kinf of picture am I going to have.

Also, I have been in a couple of stores in Chicago and I keep getting negative input about EDTV yet CNET ranks these better. I know the EDTV is cheaper. Is there a difference in quality versus the other plasma's.

Thank you for your guidance.

Well a couple of thoughts.
Your condo may approve HD service in the future.
A good TV will last 10 years or more.
Chicago has 14 stations that broadcast in HD, 13 are in the UHF band so a small antenna would let you pickup the OTA HD broadcast, PBS WTTW channel 11( 47 for HD) is awsome in HD.
DVDs are ED (640x480) but HD-DVDs will be here someday.
So if you buy a EDTV to day 3 years from now you may wish you had gotten a HDTV. John
