Cable (coaxial) to DVI

Aug 22, 2009 4:40PM PDT

Just purchased this monitor, HP w2558hc, and want to use it as a TV as well as a computer monitor at my work station. I would like to run the audio from the cable signal through an audio system.

How can I go about this? I imagine I need an adaptor/splitter of some sort that will do the following:
- Split the incoming cable signal into separate video and audio signals
- Convert the video signal to DVI
- Convert the audio signal to RCA (or really any thing audio friendly, I've got loads of adaptors for that)

Does anyone know of any solutions?

(I'm normally fairly savvy and intuitive about this stuff and would usually do all this research on my own, but I have a lot of things on my plate and just can't focus too much on this, so I appreciate all the help.)

Matt

Cable box for conversion, have to be programmed?
Aug 24, 2009 1:15PM PDT

In my room, I don't have a cable receiver, just the coaxial that comes from the wall... Does anyone know if I can just buy a cable box strictly for this conversion process? Or must it be programmed by the Cable Provider?

cable is analog, DVI is digital. Never seen this type of converter.
