Instead of using "regedit" to open the registry editor, click on Start-Run, type "regedt32", then click on OK.. Now navigate to the path you mentioned, "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CA\CAPF", then RIGHT click on the "CAPF" key, choose "Permissions".. Give yourusername "Full Control", then try uninstalling again.
And YES, you DO need to make these changes from a logon with admin rights.
Hope this helps.
Hoping someone can help me with this. I have uninstalled CA Internet Suite 2007 from my father's computer in order to install a better security suite. Unfortunately, however, it keeps giving me the following error:
Error E9011: You do not have sufficient privileges to install or uninstall CA Personal Firewall.
Unable to update registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CA\CAPF
Try logging on as Administrator.
After scouring the CA site and the internet, this seems to be a fairly common issue which does not have a reasonable (or consistently working) solution. I have done everything I could find online and their uninstall tool does not work.
1. Any other suggestions?
2. Is there a general uninstall tool that will wipe anything out?
Any help would be appreciated.
By the way, the system is running XP and I intalled the rest of the program through the "Add/Remove" option in Control Panel.
