C:\program loads at startup

by ahw30045 / April 2, 2005 4:16 AM PST

I am running Windows XP Home SP2 on Velocity Micro PC at 3.0 GHz with 1 GB RAM. This is a new PC and everytime I start windows, I get an empty window named C:\program. (Previously, I received an error saying that a certain file cannot be found and asked me to stop trying and I said yes; now, it loads up and I cannot determine what program or command is causing it.

Any ideas?

Run msconfig

look for the name of the program, that is running your file name. Then disable it, if you think it's bad...

How do I do that?

In reply to: Run msconfig

How do I do that? The only thing that loads is an empty window called C:\program. I have looked but see that listed nowhere in msconfig.

In reply to: Start Up Programs

I tried the software but I Don't see any reference to c:\program in the startup programs. There was (in msconfig) a blank line which I deleted but didn't affect anything.
