If this is for a Linux install I let the Linux installer do this for me.

There are thousands of web pages if you want to do this manually.

This is done with the windows tool called disk management.

I also keep a copy of partition wizard in a drawer for when I can't get disk management to do what I want.

Google each one for the how to use.

Before you play with partitions make sure you have a full system backup and install media.
