bypassing signon pswd

My young niece passed away and I have her HP Win8 laptop. I cannot access it and have tried everything I've researched on the web. Most solutions you need to be logged on to do and that's impossible since I cannot logon. Can anyone help. I've tried the windows key +U and X and many, many other suggestions.

I've yet to bypass such.

I have used password resets, the other admin account, and the boot to the command repair prompt to use the old NET command to reset a password but never in over a decade have a found a way to bypass the signon password.

If you only need to access the files on the HDD we put the hDD into some USB case and look it over from another PC.

So no to the bypass password. That's probably way you didn't find a solution.
So here's the google on the resets, no bypasss.

boot to a LIVE LInux DVD

The easy ones are Mint, Ubuntu, Zorin, and they will access all files on the hard drive because Linux doesn't pay any attention to windows security features.
