Do you honestly believe
Feb 27, 2019 5:12AM PST

that the Senate has the votes to override a probably veto from Trump even IF the Senate passes that resolution?

In your dreams....

AND....since money is already available immediately for Trump to spend without Congress, by the time it gets through any liberal court, it will have already been spent. The Trump train is rolling and can't be stopped by Botox Nancy and Cryin' Chuck or anybody else.

"probable"?...I thought that was a given...

House Democrats move to block Trump’s national emergency declaration, and Trump promises to veto

Another "promise made, promise NOT kept"

Promise KEPT....He signed the VETO
Mar 16, 2019 5:11AM PDT

Now he can spend the $3.5B already available to him, plus the $1.3B Congress just gave him....that's $5B that Congress can't stop him from having. The extra $4B from the military funding is what will be held up until SCOTUS....maybe....there ARE authorities given to Trump that allow him to also spend that money now so that by the time it gets to SCOTUS, it will be done as well.

The reason I ask is HE claimed HE would take responsibility for the "shutdown"....now HE plays dumb....

What a fickle fellow.

the Attorney General of the USA, long before Trump....he's NOBODY'S puppet. It's not like he's so new to the job that he doesn't know the laws, JP, and what authorities the President would have.

You really ARE a know-nothing...…...and show it more and more frequently.

Standing beside DJT while he signed the veto,

Clearly authorized under the law?

Now that HE has expressed HIS legal opinion...Is HE qualified to be a Judge IF/WHEN the case comes before HIM?

Should HE recuse himself like Sessions did?

The Judge be PRE-Judging?

I say YES!!!!

Feb 28, 2019 - The checks and the Oval Office conversation are very damaging. .... People didn't just walk behind Mr. Trump's desk to talk to him.

Cohen said DJT doesn't let anyone behind the desk in the Oval Office....I guess Cohen was lying.....Only people that agree with DJT can go behind the desk?

there were at least 12 people "behind the desk" at the veto signing.

It's comforting to know that you are still capable of counting up to at least 12

I just counted SOME of the noses...I didn't count faces...because I think some of them are 2 faced liars....

AND I didn't have to take off my shoes to do it....and NO I don't have 12 fingers.

Now, if you had a nice cup of cocoa and a blanket you would be in heaven.

WHERE is DJT looking for the money?

A federal law, the Anti-Deficiency Act, generally makes it a crime for an official to spend money on something in excess of what Congress has appropriated for that purpose.

But the Trump administration says it can lawfully move other military funding into the Pentagon’s counterdrug account under “general transfer authority,” a power Congress has given to the defense secretary. This power gives Mr. Shanahan, under certain conditions, the flexibility to move up to $4 billion around from one purpose to another.

But there are certain limits. Among them, it can be used only on an item that is “higher priority” than its original purpose and meets a standard of “unforeseen military requirements” and “in no case where the item for which funds are requested has been denied by the Congress.” This raises the question of whether Mr. Trump’s desire to spend more on his wall than Congress appropriated qualifies under that standard.

You claim it's a slam dunk...others say it isn't.

It ain't over till the fat lady sings.....

The military money
Mar 17, 2019 5:53AM PDT

won't be used until the REST of the money is already spent....so with $1.3B already given by Congress (with restrictions to not use any for new wall building) for repairs and technology and more border agents, more housing, etc., he can use readily available funds totaling $3.5B to build NEW walls while the military funding gets sorted out. THAT money $4B +/- WILL be given to him and construction will be at least started while it works its way through the liberals courts with appeals taking it to SCOTUS. It will probably be spent by the time it gets there, because Trump will ignore the lower courts that try to stop him I suspect since most legal experts believe he has that authority. SCOTUS will either agree and taxpayer money gets wasted again or they will disagree and slap his wrists for doing something that is over and done with. Either way....the wall continues....

And the fight goes on in September when the CR runs out........and it becomes another election fight.

Veto?
Feb 27, 2019 7:05AM PST

It does not matter.

If the senate also passes the res that tells the Don to stick your wall in his ear it sends a very clear message to the pentagon.

Since congress is the hand that feeds the pentagon does the pentagon bite that hand?

One step at a time......let's see what happens in step 2.

I'd think the use of a member's name, especially to disparage them, is at least a stretch of the "no flaming" policy in the forums. Although the named person will be able to see the remark, it's quite similar to talking behind someone's back. That's something we learn to do on the school playgrounds but should grow out of it. It's fine, IMO, to express disagreement with a person's thoughts but it's bad manners to show disdain for the person's entire being. We can be better than this if we work at it. Of course there are plenty of biblical references about how we treat people from the shadows so I won't search for and drop them here.

The fact that Bob refers to the wall as 'mine' on a personal level? If so, I didn't miss it....I considered the source and didn't take the bait on that part of what he had to say. It's the USA wall....I just defend the necessity of it and Trump's ability to do it over liberal objection.

And, I'm really not buying your explanation as to why you felt you had to point it out to me.

Step 3
Mar 15, 2019 4:17AM PDT

Trump issues the veto and it's over because Botox Nancy has already said she doesn't have the votes in the House to override it so it won't come up for a vote.

Step 4....already going on....Trump builds his wall, even if some liberal judge tries to put a temp restraining order in place. I believe he will defy the order and let it keep going through the court system until it hits SCOTUS.

So far he has the 1.5B that congress gave him.

I have not read anything to indicate anything other than wall maintenance is going on.

Using a national emergency to satisfy a campaign promise might not fly very well with the courts.

I have not read anything to indicate anything other than wall maintenance is going on.

EXCLUSIVE: Trump's border agency admits he has built ZERO new walls despite claiming otherwise for months

The United States government has built no new border walls during the Trump administration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed exclusively to DailyMail.com on Thursday.

Border barriers erected between the U.S. and Mexico since Inauguration Day 2017 have consisted of supplements to existing walls and replacements for outmoded or decreipt sections.

'The first new wall project, where no barrier currently exists, is anticipated to start in April,' CBP spokesman Roger Maier said in an email. He identified Hidalgo County as the construction project's location, a border zone along a meandering 50-mile stretch of the Rio Grande.

Kind of gives the wrong impression but Toni will buy it.

With funding for this wall expansion going through the courts contractors may not be eager to bid on this job.

We've discussed this before....
Mar 15, 2019 12:32PM PDT

He has two other sources of immediate money that Congress can't stop him from getting even with a liberal court decision.....by the time he spends that money, it will be at SCOTUS just as the military funding becomes an issue. The three active sources gives him roughly $5B with the military funding being an additional $3+B.

When Congress gave him the $1.3B, they put restrictions on it (last year's budget remember) that it could ONLY be used to fix/repair existing barriers and normal security. He went along with that in order to get the Pentagon increase. Basically, they gave him nothing this time because the same restrictions are on it....and they did the same thing with this current CR that lasts until Sept. The Reps under Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell told him if he waited until after the elections, they would pass the $5+B bill he wanted for the wall.....Ryan got it passed, but because of the three Reps in the Senate that refused to vote for it (Collins, Merkowski, and Flake...who wanted to screw Trump anyhow before he left), they didn't have enough votes to pass it so McConnell never brought it up for a vote. And Merkowski shouldn't even BE in the Senate except for a liberal judge in Alaska allowing it to happen.....I always believed that Republicans in that State legislature and election board should have sued over that illegal decision.

Step 3 is done
Mar 15, 2019 1:04PM PDT
- Collapse -
March 26 is when the House will vote
Mar 16, 2019 5:18AM PDT

since the Senate has nothing to say about it anymore. If Botox Nancy doesn't have the extra 40 votes she needs to override the Veto, it's done.....and she doesn't. Her vote will only be a 'ceremonial' vote for their base.
