Buzz Tee-Shirts Are Here!

Feb 10, 2006 8:37PM PST

Tom announced Friday that Buzz tee-shirts are back. One will be given out each Friday to forum contributors. Yay! This is also mentioned in the show notes. Congrats Andy!

Cool

That's great, and I hope that means they'll use more of our forum comments on the air (I mean besides AndyinTN) and maybe fewer emails/voice mails. I tend to post my comments here rather than sending email/voice mail so that folks can discuss them, but, at least until *very* recently, all they mostly did was email comments and voice mails. The forum felt like the ugly redheaded step child of BOL.

I agree

that it seems like they have time dedicated to emails and calls. Why not have a minute dedicated to forum activity?

We hear you, and we're responding
Feb 11, 2006 3:27AM PST

Molly and I even talked about this. We decided to make a concerted effort to use forum posts when they're relevant to the discussion, which is quite often.

Here's my amateur psychoanalysis of why we were doing it less.

We've done email and voicemail since the beginning, os part of it was inertia.

In the forums we can respons to everyone right there, so we lose the urgency of wanting to respond so everyone can hear that we get from email and voicemail.

There are so many good comments it was a little daunting to be honest. It's much easier to pick from the email and voicemail.

None of that should be read to be an excuse, just a little explanation so you don't get the idea that the forum is a red-headed or otherwise follicly-coloured adopted progeny.

We looooove the forums. I've taken to posting particularly good comments or discussions to del.icio.us so I don't forget.

I'd pay at least twenty bucks for a BoL branded beanie hat.

How about a shirt....

For the person who posts the 3000th message in the forums?

Quality, Not Quantity

Rewarding the person who posts the most messages probably isn't the best idea. I suggest that the shirts go to those who are the 'best' contributors. Those would be people who start interesting on-topic discussions and/or informative replies.

Total

I think wmoisis meant the person who makes the 3000th post on the forums. It's close to 2590 right now. It's sort of like a reward for the one billionth itunes download that Apple is running right now. The winner could just as easily be a first time contributor.

but how?

do we track that?

Good question

If it isn't somehow tagged by your forum software, it may not be possible.

Buzz Tee-Shirts are where?
Apr 29, 2007 4:04AM PDT

I have not heard Tom or Veronica or the special guest give out a t-shirt in weeks now. I know that things have been crazy with traveling, maternity leave, and guest appearances; but please pick this up again. Buzz Out Load citizens are going cold without their t-shirts.
