Buying Netbook for Mom - Needs Battery Life and Light Weight

by AMDrules / December 13, 2010 1:48 AM PST

I'm looking for a netbook that has high battery life, weighs very little and is pretty much designed for word processing and perhaps a some internet exploration. Wow. Did I just describe the general function of a netbook? Well, let me elaborate. I'll take lighter weight and greater battery-life over performance. At the same time, I'd prefer that the performance not make it impossible to type (strokes of the keyboard not registering). My sister has proposed:

I think Dell is crap. We'd just be paying for over-the-phone customer service that my mother would never use.

I found this:
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=10151&langId=-1&catalogId=10551&categoryId=16154&N=4294966502&Name=Laptops#/overviewTab

It has mixed reviews and considerably weaker specs. However, it weighs less and has more battery life.

Does anyone have opinions on this?

All the netbooks I've seen have horrible keyboards compared to even the 399 buck laptops.

A writer would be very upset with the netbooks I see today.

Hi there,

I would recommend Acer Aspire One D255 (Dual Core Processor, its very light and battery life seems to be good too.

Hope this helps.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
