Buying my first laptop

Hello! I am a 19 year old college student and mom and I am looking into buying my first laptop in the couple of days. I want it mostly for internet use but also being in college there is the occasional paper that I have to write. I am wondering which might be right for me, since I have no experience with this. And I have a pretty small budget. I also need to know what I need to get so that I can use my comcast internet at home, a wireless router?? I think. And also If I would have to buy Microsoft separately from the laptop. Any advice would be great!!! Thank you all!!

What kinda of price range are we working with here? If it is around $300 then the previous suggestion will be one of your best bets.

If you do not have a wireless router and wished to go wireless in your house then you will need to get a router. If a router is already set up chances are any PC you buy today will have a built in adapter for surfing without being wired to a modem.

Whatever laptop you buy will have an operating system on it, so when you ask about buying Microsoft I assume you are talking about Microsoft Office. Some PCs will come with a full version or it might just be a trial. You can of course purchase a full copy or choose an alternative, it's up to you.
