Buying mac 5300 for word processing..MS word 5.1 compatible?

Jul 7, 2005 4:06AM PDT

I am buying a mac 5300 for only 25 bucks. I already have a nice laptop and work computer that serve my regular needs. I just need a portable laptop to do my writing on.

The laptop has Ms. word 5.1 on it and my main concern is how will i be able to save things to a disc and then be able to read what i have written from that disc on a regular pc?

I am on a budget, so buying a new laptop is not possible right now. I only want a cute, lightweight, good battery life laptop for word processing.

is there a free program i can use to be able to read stuff saved from a mac onto a pc, and be able to read ms word 5.1 ?

I answered that one. Just wondering. Did you check your other posting?

I can't reply to your email because...

a. You supplied no return address.
b. Your profile has no email button like mine does.

If you read my post, I noted a test you should try as well as warning you about getting the OS and application CDs and disks. I noted Open Office for use on the PC if required as such is not available for MacOS. OSX is another matter entirely.

The mac 5300 will have all of the original discs. someone told me to just save my work in rtf format and my windows 2000 should be able to read it.

how does that sound?

Word 5.1

Perhaps the best Word Processor that MS produced. It actually fits on a floppy, imagine that!
If you use PC formatted disks in the laptop and save your documents as Word files and any Windows machine, with Word installed, will be able to open it.
Saving as RTF will cover all the bases and allow any word processor to open it.
