Question

Buying Laptop

Aug 10, 2015 4:38PM PDT

I'm looking into buying a laptop and need some help. I want to use the laptop to edit videos, pics, download music and regular things. I don't do any of those things now but would like too. I have a 1tb portable storage already. I would like to spend around 500 but wouldn't mind pay a fee hundred more.

Researched Answer, Perfect laptop

Hi there Ndiggtykuyas,

So it based off what you listed as the requirements it sounds like there would be a lot of laptops that would fit the bill. After a quick google search, here's what I've come up with.

- Quick Note -
Laptops are one of those things that if you invest in them then it pays off much more in the long run. So I would be weary of buying something < $500, they tend to lose their performance quickly. That being said....

I would go with the "Asus Zenbook UX305FA". Asus is a reputable brand and the Zenbook is a sleek machine. It has 256 GB SSD to store those pictures, videos, or songs that you mentioned.
It has a good processor that should be able to handle any normal day to day tasks, browsing, or videos easily. Plus it's very close to your price range.

I hope this helps, I'm sure you will be very happy with the Zenbook!

The thing is, here's the thing.

Even that 200 buck laptop can edit videos, pics, download music and regular things. There are some hundreds of 500 and less machines today so let's try this another way.

Which 500 buck laptops make your short list?

If I can have one, then I'll check out notebookcheck or CNET about how they hold up under load. Video rendering can push a machine pretty hard so it's not about the time it takes but your budget.

The thing is I don't have a lost. I've just been looking online at laptops. Searching for good laptops for video and photo editing 500 and under. Also kind of looking at what characteristics a good or decent laptop has at that price point. What type of specs hardware I would be looking for in a laptop to do what I want to do well

I guess I was unclear on the thing.

For what you want to do even the 200 buck laptop can do this albeit slower than a faster laptop. Which is why I wanted to see a model from you so I could check it out on say notebookcheck.com to see if they noted it held up under load.

The top of this forum has lists for those hunting. I can't pick for you given there are some hundreds of fine choices today in this category.

Well the $500 wouldn't get you much but the Toshiba Satellite is a good way to go in terms of software

Intel Core i5-5200U 2.2 GHz Processor
8 GB DDR3L SDRAM
1 TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
17.3-Inch Screen, Mobile Intel HD graphics
Windows 10
Check it out here
