First off, if you have a warranty still, try that. If not, it will cost you a little. Compaq will gladly sell you the part, for a few hundred. More realistic, if you have a USB or Firewire port, you can purchase an external drive. It is not the fastest, but it will get the job done. Or, you can buy a slim drive and replace it yourself.
