buying av AV receiver for my speaker system

Sep 20, 2008 11:37AM PDT

I have the Bose Acoustimass 10 Series IV speaker system. As it was priced at around $900, I was wondering if there was any general AV receiver to speaker price ratio I should consider before purchasing an AV receiver (kind of like there is one with purchasing guitars and amps)? I pretty much know which connections I need, but I'm not really sure with how much power I need for my AV receiver and if a $500 receiver would suffice or not. Additionally, should I consider investing in a receiver that can output Dolby TrueHD audio at this time if I want to keep my receiver for the long haul? And do I need to be aware whether or not my speakers support TrueHD?
