Just one example. Hibernate takes longer with more ram to shut down and startup.
Another one. Ram past some point does not give much if any speed. Years ago I demo'd a machine with some ram. The program ran to completion in 6 hours. We doubled the ram and it finished 5 minutes faster.
Of course if you want to sell more, talk the buyer into more ram by telling them that more ram is better.

I am looking at getting a new computer built instead of going with a dell, hp etc... The companies I have found are YetiWorks, DigitalStorm and iBuypower. I really like YetiWorks and am considering them first however I have a couple questions before I buy.
@ YetiWorks they work directly with you when building a computer rather than configuring and buying directly online. The technician I talked to recommended going with a 500GB hard drive for my OS and program and 2 1.5TB drives for music and photos/videos respectively. I don't plan on using any more than that as far as space goes.
Is there any disadvantage to this setup?
The tech also recommended I go with 12GB of ram at max. He said most configurations will never reach the 12GB cap. And if I find myself needing more I will have the ability to add 12GB more.
Is this correct? I thought the more ram the better.
Any help clarifying would be great.
Regards
