What you'll run into is a lack of drivers if you decide to load that OS. Unless it's an used system, running 98 on a new laptop will stress your guru.

I am buying a laptop probobly used because I don`t need a whole ton of performance because I already have an amazing system so this computer is my secondary for lite gaming, some travle, base internet and multimedia use some picture editing and watching dvds so what choices should I make all the laptops I`ve looked at were ibm thinkpads with a mobile p3 at 900mhz to 1.13ghz and all 12gig hd with 14.1 inch screens 256 mb of ram and dvd players I`ve also looked at a Toshiba satalite with windows xp all the thinkpads are runnin 98 with a 400mgz processor about a 12 inch screen and a 6 gig hd and 128mb of ram but no usb port and I looked at a hp but they jus took it off the market it was brand new and theirs also a few budget new ones in the 700-800 dollar range(canadian)
so my questions r
1. what should I chose?
2. Why are there so many thinkpads for sale used
3. is there a way of attaching some kind of usb device to the toshiba
4. how much hd space would I need with about 6 gigs of data going to be transfered over and preferably running win xp or 98
