Question

Buying a Gaming laptop, need suggestions/opinions

Sep 8, 2015 10:54AM PDT

I just wanna buy a good gaming laptop for a somewhat reasonable price. I can go a little more than the prices listed, so if a possible change of one component would put one laptop ahead of the other, that's cool. Basically, I just need help figuring out which laptop gives the best hardware for it's price. I'm no good with good hardware comparisons, so that's why I'm here. I've also tried to match the specs as closely as possible for the best possible comparison.

Here's my long list:

Xidax XM-10: $2,670
i7-4790k
16GB RAM
GTX 980M 8GB
1TB HDD (main)
128 GB SSD (Os/extraneous)
Win 10 (or maybe 8.1, can't remember)
Special thing: Rush Service (1-3 days) ($109) Pretty keyboard.

Origin Eon 15-X: $2,597
i7-4790k
16GB RAM
GTX 980M 8GB
1TB HDD
120 SSD
Special thing: Upgraded GPU/CPU cooling ($30) and a Free 1TB HDD included (as of yesterday, 9/7/15), Pretty keboard

Sager NP9773-S: $2,399
i7-4790k
16GB RAM
GTX 980M 8GB
1TB HDD
128GB SSD
Win8.1
Special thing: Pretty keyboard

Eurocom X5 R2: $2,503
i7-4930MX
GTX 980M 8GB
16GB RAM
1TB HDD
128 SSD
Win 8.1
Special thing: Pretty keyboard

Razer Blade (New/2015) Full HD: $1,999
i7-4720HQ
GTX 970M 3GB
8GB RAM
256GB SSD (main storage)

Aorus X7 Pro G-Sync BW1: $2,634
i7-5858 (5th gen)
GTX 970M in SLI (I assume 3GB per card, didin't write that down)
16GB RAM
1TB HDD
2x 256GB SSD (Could be wrong)
Special thing: Extra cooling ($35)

MSI GT72 Dominator: $2,139
i7-4720HQ
GTX 980M 8GB
16GB RAM
1TB HDD (The 7200 rpm variety)
128GB SSD
Win 8.1
Special thing: Pretty keyboard.

Fangbook III BX6-300: $1,487
i7-5700HQ
GTX 970M 3GB
16GB RAM
1TB HDD
128GB SSD
Win 8.1
Special thing: Pretty keyboard, Max intel wifi option

There might be more in the future as I look around, but this is what I have so far. Personally, I think the Fangbook is the best at it's astoundingly low price, but I think I might be kicked a little in the back with the somewhat lower-end processor. Or I could be wrong. Could be complete crap. I dunno, that's why I'm here.

Thanks in advance for anyone kind enough to answer this word riddled question! I'll be glad to answer any questions or add any necessary info.

My choice?

Kick all the 128GB or less SSD models off the list. I've lost track of folk that blow past that size.

It appears you want EXTREME GAMING LAPTOPS. OK, kick off the ones that don't have the 980M 8GB.

Finally, remove 4K display LCD models.

What's left are the candidates.

Alright then

Just to be clear, though, on all laptops with the 128GB SSD, it was just gonna be used as extra funny space, with most of the everything else being on the HDD. But if you want me to kick it off still, fine (you're right anyways, it's not a necessity).

Not looking for "EXTREME", because if I was, I'd splurge with a MSI GT80 Titan. I'm just looking for something I can comfortably game in for the next five years (not necessarily AAA games, but f2p too). Anyways, all 970Ms and below kicked.

None had 4k displays anyways (I think).

All that's left is: Xidax, Eon, Sager, Eurocom, and the MSI.

Then none will do.

These will arrive ready to use and if you alter it, then most folk explode under the strain of starting over.

5 year gaming laptop? I don't see many get past 4. Then again, there are a few.

Short list it to the 240+GB and 8GB video cards.
