BUYER BEWARE: SAMSUNG CANADA Useless Manufacturers Warranty

Oct 2, 2018 1:19PM PDT

Our SAMSUNG ceramic stove top cracked under normal use in less than a year - and Samsung Canada washes their hands from honoring their warranty by classifying it as a physical damage rather than a manufacturing defect (due to the use of substandard parts).

Stove tops should not crack under normal use - especially not in less than a year. We have had a Kenmore ceramic stove top that we used for more than 10 years until we decided to replace it just because the counter top has become unsightly because of long use. Stove tops only crack under normal use because the part they used was substandard. It is a manufacturer issue - not a cosmetic issue. Case in point, if the whole stove cracks or collapses under normal use, it is because of substandard workmanship and part/technical specification - not because it is a cosmetic problem. Same thing with the ceramic tops, it shouldn't crack or collapse on you under normal use.

Samsung Canada refused to honor the warranty and basically said to fix it myself using one of their preferred service centers, which I did - because I had no choice (people need to cook you know).

It was only after we paid for the repair did Samsung Canada offer to repair it 'out of goodwill'. When I told them that I already had it repaired, they basically just walked away from their responsibility because the problem is now fixed. No offer to reimburse the repair cost whatsoever. I think part of their warranty resolution strategy is to tell customers to repair it themselves and then offer to repair it after everything is paid for by the customer. Oh, you have fixed it already ... nothing left for Samsung to do...paying for it is not part of Samsung's responsibility.

I only realize now that the customer is responsible for their warranty.

Now that I know that, I will no longer buy any Samsung product.
